The consumption of electric energy in Brazilian Federal Universities represent the third largest expense in the anual accounts of these institutions (Chamada 001-2016 ANEEL), with the majority of this consumption being used for air conditioning. Air conditioners represent the highest percentage of consumption in the electric energy bill in buildings, between 35% to 60% depending on the technology , size, diferente atributes of the location installed and the usafe regime. This Project will improve energy efficiency through the Exchange of 166 air conditioning units in the buildings of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering(FEM) , as a pilot Project. Consumption monitoring will be carried out in real time (integration of subproject 1 – mini-monitoring center), temperature and noise measurement of indoor environments and continuous efficiency assessment.
